Why should I gospel postcard evangelize?

Here are 12 reasons why. Of course there must be many more! Some may be very intimate and compelling to you within your gifts, calling and relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1. You are expressing your faith, obedience and love for Jesus Christ.

It's a very doable and fundamental first step to fulfilling the Great Commission.

"Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

"And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16:15-16

"Why do you call Me Lord, Lord, but not do what I say? I will show you what he is like who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them: He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid his foundation on the rock. When the flood came, the torrent crashed against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built." Luke 6:46-48

"Jesus replied, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. Whoever does not love Me does not keep My words. The word that you hear is not My own, but it is from the Father who sent Me." John 14:23-24

2. You are helping to bring others to repentance unto salvation.

Gospel postcards contain the visual and scriptural "Good News" message calling all to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

"How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15

"Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise belongs to you and your children and to all who are far off—to all whom the Lord our God will call to Himself." Acts 2:38-39

"I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm. By this gospel you are saved," 1 Corinthians 15:1

3. How will they hear the truth if no one delivers the message to them?

Every household deserves the opportunity to hear the scriptural truth of what they are facing in a eternity without Jesus Christ. We know the truth. We have a moral responsibility to get the Gospel message to everyone in every possible way that we can. Their house is on fire. It is burning down with them and their children within it. Can we know this and do nothing?

"How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:14-15

" Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6

"At that time some of those present told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. To this He replied, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered this fate? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam collapsed on them: Do you think that they were more sinful than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you too will all perish." Luke 13:1-5

"Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire. And if anyone was found whose name was not written in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:11-15

4. You are participating in the fulfillment of our Lord's end time prophecy.

That His Gospel will be preached to all nations and then the end will come.

"And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14

"And He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name." Acts 10:42-43

"The time is fulfilled, He said, and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!” Mark 1:15

5. You are fulfilling our Lord's prophecy of the parable of the Sower.

The Gospel Postcard plants the "seed" of the Word of God into the hearts and minds of those who see and read it. That Word also waters what had already been planted for a harvest to come. There are four kinds of ground the seed will fall into. Only one kind will mature and bear fruit. Every farmer knows that seed must be sown in order to have a harvest.

"Consider, then, the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the message of the kingdom but does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed sown on rocky ground is the one who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since he has no root, he remains for only a season. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away. The seed sown among the thorns is the one who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. But the seed sown on good soil is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and produces a crop—a hundredfold, sixtyfold, or thirtyfold.” Matthew 13:18-23

"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth" 1 Corinthians 3:5-9

"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." 1 Peter 1:23

6. God's Word will not return to Him void.

It will accomplish what He sent it to do.

"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:10-11

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:12-13

"Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24

Jesus said "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away." Matthew 24:35

7. Jesus promises that He will acknowledge YOU before His Heavenly Father and the Holy Angels!

In your prayers and petitions with thanksgiving you will be acknowledged as one of His very own who expressed your faith and gratitude in Him before all as the Savior of the world.

"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven." Matthew 10:32-33

"I tell you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God. But whoever denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God." Luke 12:8-9

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16

8. Jesus promises that He will not be ashamed of YOU when He comes in His Glory!

Because you are unashamed to publicly testify to Him and His Words in this sinful generation He promises that He will not be ashamed of YOU when He returns in His glory, and the glory of His Father with the Holy Angels. Just imagine on that amazing glorious eternal day what this will mean to YOU.

"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." Mark 8:34-38

"What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit his very self? If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels." Luke 9:25-26

"That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith. The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness." Romans 1:15-18

"They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they did not love their lives so as to shy away from death." Revelation 12:11

"I consider that our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God" Romans 8:18-19

9. God uses what is "in your hand" to serve Him.

Like Moses who had a staff in his hand and David a sling. Samson had no weapon of war in his hand, he picked up the jawbone of a dead donkey and defeated God's enemies. God chooses to use the common and unlikely things to accomplish His will on the earth so that we know the victory is from Him and the glory is His. This is in YOUR hand. You can do it. You can fulfill the work and God will fulfill His promises!

"Then Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to my voice? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you. And the LORD asked him, What is that in your hand? A staff,” he replied. Throw it on the ground, said the LORD. So Moses threw it on the ground, and it became a snake,a and he ran from it. Stretch out your hand and grab it by the tail, the LORD said to Moses, who reached out his hand and caught the snake, and it turned back into a staff in his hand." Exodus 4:1-4

"He found the fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and struck down a thousand men. Then Samson said: With the jawbone of a donkey I have piled them into heaps. With the jawbone of a donkey I have slain a thousand men.” Judges 15:15-16

"As the Philistine started forward to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Then David reached into his bag, took out a stone, and slung it, striking the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground. Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him." 1 Samuel 17:48-50

"Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom,d and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. Brothers, consider the time of your calling: Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were powerful; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly and despised things of the world, and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast in His presence. It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." 1 Corinthians 1:24-30

10. Time is short.

Urgency is essential. The season may soon be coming when the uncompromised Gospel Message may not be allowed through the US Postal Mail System.

"That is why the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so that you can pray." 1 Peter 4:6-7

"Now about the times and seasons, brothers, we do not need to write to you. For you are fully aware that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, Peace and security, destruction will come upon them suddenly, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape, But you, brothers, are not in the darkness so that this day should overtake you like a thief. For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day; we do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober." 1 Thessalonian 5:1-6

" And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" Matthew 24:14

"Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done." Revelations 22:12

11. There are eternal rewards promised to those who work for the King in His Kingdom!

The Word of God declares that we will not be competing with or compared to one another. Each one of us will be judged according to the knowledge, gifts, talents and opportunities that were given to us by God to do.

"The servant who had received the five talents came and presented five more. Master, he said, ‘you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more. His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master! The servant who had received the two talents also came and said, Master, you entrusted me with two talents. See, I have gained two more. His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!" Matthew 25:20-23

"When he returned from procuring his kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned. The first servant came forward and said, Master, your mina has produced ten more minas. His master replied, Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities. The second servant came and said, Master, your mina has made five minas. And to this one he said, ‘You shall have authority over five cities." Luke 19:15-19

"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions." Matthew 24:45-47

"What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? They are servants through whom you believed, as the Lord has assigned to each his role. I planted the seed and Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. He who plants and he who waters are one in purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building." 1 Corinthians 3:5-9

"For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life." Ephesians 2:10

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive his due for the things done in the body, whether good or bad. Therefore, since we know what it means to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men." 1 Corinthians 5:10-11

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, Your God reigns! Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices, together they shout for joy." Isaiah 52:7-8
